MCCE@SU – 2020 Awards Program

Date and Location of 2020 Awards Program.
The Maryland Center for Character Education at Stevenson University 2019 Awards Program will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020.  Our Awards Program will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hunt Valley (Cockeysville), MD.

Why should I apply?
MCCE@SU Awards Program recognizes schools throughout MD who have instituted, developed, and are continuing comprehensive character education initiatives in their school communities.  We honor schools for promoting Character Education and all their achievements.

How do I apply?
Download our application on our website at www.mdctrcharacter.net, News and Highlights page. Use the criteria from CHARACTER.ORG’s 11 Principles of Effective Character Education (also found on our website Home Page) to demonstrate your achievements in promoting Character Education within your school and community.

When is the deadline?
Applications are due on June 20, 2020. Submit your application and questions to Linda Muska at MCCEcharacter@aol.com. 

When will we be notified of the decision?
We will notify all applicants by July 2020.

CHARACTER.ORG – Promising Practices Application

– For 25 years, Character.org has been recognizing and sharing Promising Practices from K-12 schools all around the globe. Now, we are excited to gather Promising Practices from colleges, sports groups, organizations, and schools!

Why should I apply?
Promising Practices has often been the catalyst for people to begin the journey through the 11 Principles. It is an opportunity to validate and share your community’s work so that others might adapt the practice and affect positive change in their own community.

How do I apply?
Begin the application process on our website at http://character.org/schools-of-character/promising-practices-overview/promising-practices-application/. It is a short, one page application asking for you to supply a description of your unique, replicable practice used to focus on one or more of the 11 Principles to help create a culture of positive character.

When is the deadline?
The application closes on March 15, 2019.

When will we be notified of the decision?
We will notify all applicants in May 2019.

Baltimore, MD — The Maryland Center for Character Education at Stevenson University (MCCE@SU) is dedicated to making an ethical difference in the lives of individuals and the entire community through education.  The Center encourages teachers, counselors and administrators, in public and private schools to teach, model, and reinforce moral values and ethical behavior.

On Thursday, October 11, 2018 the Maryland Center for Character Education at Stevenson University will be holding their annual Awards Program at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Cockeysville, Maryland.

In partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), CHARACTER.ORG, and the Maryland Center for Character Education at Stevenson University (MCCE@SU) 64 schools from throughout Maryland will be honored..  The awards program recognizes schools or districts that demonstrate an outstanding character education initiative yielding positive results in student behavior, school climate, and academic performance.   The schools are selected by their county Superintendent and/or their Character Education Coordinator.  Each school will be recognized and receive a “2017 – 2018 School of the Year” award and banner.
